SCLD Hosts Third Annual Career Day

Professionals in banking, law enforcement, media, education and more discuss occupations with students.

Dozens of students at The School for Language and Communication Development (SCLD) in Glen Cove recently learned about numerous career paths during the school's third annual Career Day. 

Professionals in the banking, law enforcement, media and education fields, among others, were on-hand to provide the students with career advice. A panel of speakers presented a short presentation discussing their area of expertise and the type of training/schooling necessary to attain their present position.

Representatives from the Department of Labor, Queens County Savings Bank, NYPD Community Affairs and Don Jones were some of the companies that attended.

"This was a very successful Career Day for our Middle/High School students," said Dr. Ellenmorris Tiegerman, the school's president and founder. "It's important for our students to learn about the various career paths available to them and speak with real life businessmen and women."
