VIDEO: Glen Cove High School Graduation

Students and family members braved temperatures in the mid-90's to celebrate the class of 2012's transition to life's next phase.

"This isn't exactly goodbye - we're simply moving on to bigger and better things," class valedictorian Allison Abrams said of graduating.

Superintendent Joseph Laria advised students to prepare for life, not just success.

"Things won’t always go the way you planned, but never forget that there is a path before you. Your future is yet to be realized," he said.

After the ceremony, Laria shared his favorite memory of the graduating class.

"When they rallied together when Maryann Germino was sick and passed away, they sent her cards and letters and sang the Prayer to St. Francis at her funeral," he said. "That was one of the most poignant aspects of the class. They are true humanitarians."
