Big Red Avenges Bethpage Defeat in Playoffs

Glen Cove football defeats Bethpage, advances to semifinals.

The Glen Cove High School varsity football Big Red avenged their Homecoming loss to Bethpage by beating them in the playoffs on their own turf, 28-7, to advance to the Nassau Conference III semifinals against Lawrence. The game will be played at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium on Saturday, November 16 at 10 a.m.

It was the duo of Perkins and Perkins (David and Ryan) that led the way for Glen Cove. Quarterback David Perkin’s 1-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter helped put the Big Red ahead 14-0. His score proved to be the game-winning touchdown, as Glen Cove never relinquished the lead. Running back Ryan Perkins also ran for 70 yards and a touchdown and Billy Neice and Alex Aguilar scored touchdowns on the ground as well. Alex, Josh Martin and Manny Sican also had interceptions for Glen Cove.

Congratulations to Coach Pete Kopecky, his staff and the entire team on the victory. Go Big Red!
