Ladies' Lecture: Navigation Basics

The Ladies of Glen Cove Yacht Club are planning a monthly Lecture Series in the winter and spring of 2011. We welcome all women who are interested in expanding their knowledge of sailing and cruising and meeting other women who sail. Our Ladies Lectures are open to the public and free of charge. Directions and other information about Glen Cove Yacht Club may be found at http://glencoveyachtclub.org. The schedule follows (all dates are subject to change if necessary):

Sunday, February 13, 2011 4-6 p.m. at GCYC
"Navigation Basics" GCYC Rear Commodore Chris Brown will use local charts of Hempstead Harbor and Long Island Sound to teach navigation skills necessary for cruising safely. He will demonstrate how to read chart depths, plan a cruise, locate your position, and will give experienced advice on trips you can easily plan on Long Island Sound. He will clarify how to understand buoys and other important navigational markings and techniques, and answer questions about navigation. If interested in attending, please RSVP Marie Siobhan Gallagher at MarieGallagher@SATcourse.com or 516-655-3395 for planning purposes.
(April and May Lectures are still in the planning stages.)

Ladies at the Helm is an association of women and men dedicated to improving the skills and participation of women in the sport of sailing. Activities center around the Glen Cove Yacht Club in Hempstead Harbor in Nassau County on Long Island Sound.
