Glen Cove Sacks Hewlett, 33-12

Big Red won its first playoff game Saturday, continuing an impressive winning streak.

Glen Cove won its first Division III playoff game at home Saturday versus Hewlett, maintaining a lead throughout the game to end 33-12.

The first half ended with Glen Cove up 13-6. A third quarter Glen Cove touchdown plus one made the score 20-6.

Hewlett answered with a touchdown of their own but missed the kick, making it 20-12.

Glen Cove recovered a Hewlett fumble and scored again in the fourth quarter, bringing the score to 26-12. Another touchdown and goal point left the final score at 33-12.

The win is the second-seeded team's eighth of the season, having ended the regular season 7-1 to match the 1998 squad's record number of regular season wins.
