Glen Cove, Sewanhaka Riflery Match Results To Be Determined

The match was within a point and Sewanhaka requested the results be reviewed.

The results of the Glen Cove match versus Sewanhaka on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Glen Cove's cafeteria are being reviewed by an official scorer. An official can be brought in to independently verify the results of a match if it is within five points; the potential score of the match was 676-675, Glen Cove.

Glen Cove's team is ranked "close enough to the bottom" of the high school riflery teams in the Kaiser division, according to coach Rich Bullis. Sewanhaka is ranked among the top four teams, said coach Alan Zarchy. He noted after the results were reviewed a few times that he wanted to make sure the results of the match were right and that his team "got what they deserve" whether that is a win or a loss.

Zarchy is not sure how long it will take to get the results of the match back from the scorer as he's never had to do this before.

Zarchy explained that this is a sport that has "no tolerance for nervousness" and that "it is a coach's job to keep the kids calm." One way to do this is to talk to members of the team during the match. Zarchy told Nicky Thomas, who is both on the team as well as a student in one of Zarchy's chemistry classes at , that he shouldn't be nervous about this match and added that having a chemistry test is a reason to be nervous.

Of his team's performance in the match, Zarchy said, "Dan [Sprat] had a good second target. Christina [Licata] had a good first target. If I could put the two of those together."

For Glen Cove, this is the "best that they've shot this year," Bullis said. "We were not supposed to win, but on any given day you can do well or you can do bad."

He said he expects his team to be shooting in the 700s by the end of the season. Glen Cove's potential score was 676.
