Long-Weekend Planner: Here Comes Mr. Met

The Mets mascot will be at the Nassau Coliseum Monday, when the Islanders hold Mascot Day.

He may be the most recognizable mascot in New York - and he's headed to Nassau County on Monday.

Mr. Met will join other mascots at the Nassau Coliseum, when the New York Islanders hold Mascot Day during their Presidents Day matinee against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The game starts at 1 p.m., while the meet and greet begins at about 11:30 a.m.

Also on hand: Thunderbug, Gnash, Storm and the Brooklyn Knight. If you're like most people and are wondering, who is Gnash? Visit the Islanders website to find out.

Of course, Sparky the Dragon will also be at the Coliseum.

No truth to the rumor that the first 5 kids to get a photo with Mr. Met will also get a chance to crack the team's starting outfield this year.
