Glen Cove, Patch hopes you are visiting the site everyday to learn what is happening in your community. But just in case you missed any of our coverage this week, here is an overview of some of the latest news in the city. 

- The Glen Cove community united on Monday to remember our fallen soldiers by attending the city's annual Memorial Day Parade and other commemoration services. Veterans also decorated monuments in the city on May 30. 

- Tuesday marked a historical day for the city as it held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Glen Cove Ferry Terminal and Boat Basin. The project, which is expected to cost about $16 million, is part of the city's vision to revitalize its waterfront area.

- That day was also a special one for Glen Cove student Emma Flahive, who served as mayor for the day. Flahive, a seventh-grader at All Saints Regional Catholic School in Glen Cove, was able to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony and more while she shadowed Mayor Ralph Suozzi throughout the day. 

- Patch also caught up with Big Red girls' lacrosse coach Jacqueline Gow for a season recap. Despite several challenges, players made many accomplishments and improvements this season.

- Resident Elaina Estrada was also named as a delegate in the 2011 Miss Long Island Pageant this week. Estrada, a Queens College student, will compete against dozens of contestants for the beauty crown on Aug. 15 at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts. 

- The city also kicked off the third season of its Village Square Farmers and Artisan Market on Sunday. The market, which is co-hosted by the Glen Cove Downtown Business Improvement District, is expected to increase shoppers in the city's downtown area. It is scheduled to run every Sunday from 7 a.m. to noon until Nov. 21.
