Glen Cove Students Visit Anglers Club

Local 8th graders learn about fishing, what lives in the local waters and more.

What lives in the waters surrounding Glen Cove? Some 20 eighth graders from Glen Cove After 3 had the chance to find out about that and fishing the local waters, thanks to an invite from the Glen Cove Anglers Club.

While visiting the Anglers club facility, learned from the experienced fisherman about their catches, tricks and methods.  The members even provided a barbeque for the students with hamburgers, hot dogs, watermelon and desert.  To top it off the Anglers Club gave all the students their very own fishing rods.  All the students were excited to try their poles out and stated they would enter the Mayor’s Snapper Derby.  In thanking the Anglers, students said they were looking forward to visit again.

Glen Cove After 3 aims to strengthen the academic, social and  emotional foundation of children in Glen Cove so as they progress  through elementary and middle school they can experience success in school and in life, and they are well prepared for a successful and  healthy future. Learn more about the program.
