No Swimming at North Shore Beaches Tuesday

Storm runoff causes health department to shut down swimming Tuesday.

Monday's stormy weather may have cooled off Glen Cove but may also have increased bacteria levels in swimming areas.

Because of this, the Nassau County Department of Health has closed down swimming at several Town of Oyster Bay beaches.

According to Nassau County, swimming is prohibited at the following beaches:

  • Centre Island Sound            
  • Creek Club                     
  • Lattingtown Beach               
  • Laurel Hollow Beach
  • Morgan Sound
  • North Hempstead Beach Park
  • Piping Rock Beach Club
  • Prybil BeachRansom Beach
  • Roosevelt Beach
  • Sea Cliff Village Beach
  • Soundside Beach
  • Stehli Beach
  • Tappen Beach

Swimming is still allowed at Tobay Beach and on the bay side of Centre Island Beach.

Officials said beach closures like these are usually lifted within 24 hours.
