Mangano Lie of the Day: October 17, 2013

Each day until Election Day, the Suozzi campaign will expose another lie coming from Nassau County Ed Mangano’s Administration. Here is today’s installment:

Yesterday, organizers of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce candidate’s forum were told that Mangano was unable to attend and discuss the County’s issues with Suozzi. Instead of showing up in person, Mangano sent his aide, Rob Walker.

When pressed about where his boss was, Walker responded that Mangano was attending a FEMA meeting. When asked by reporters later, Mangano said that he was in fact meeting with wealthy Republican donors in Manhattan.  Mangano ended up showing up to the event an hour late. Further, FEMA officials had no knowledge of any call or meeting planned with Mangano.

“Ed Mangano forced his staffer to tell a room full of constituents a bold faced lie in order to avoid having to answer for his record of high taxes and mismanagement,” said Suozzi. Campaign Spokesman Jeff Guillot

"We already know Mangano is lying about his one campaign slogan: that he hasn't raised taxes,” continued Guillot.  “In fact, because of his broken assessment system his own school taxes have gone up $2800 in the past two years. Since being called on that lie, he's refused to show up on stage with Tom Suozzi. What else is he lying about?"
