Singer/Songwriter Showcase & Open Mic At Page One, This Thursday June 6th

The June edition of the Glen Cove Singer/Songwriter Showcase & Open Mic will feature three of Long Island’s most accomplished singer/songwriter/musicians, at Page One Restaurant, 90 School St., Thursday, June 6th. Featured performances begin at 8, followed by the open mic. Celebrating almost 50 years of songwriting and performing, Ken Krumenacker is a member of the Island Songwriters Showcase (ISS) and the workshop with NSAI (Nashville Songwriters). Krumenacker co-runs an open mic at the Life Enrichment Center in Oyster Bay. As an artist-in-residence for Harbor Child Care of Nassau, his Pre-K and toddler programs concentrate on music and movement. He plays in the band TOFU and performs with the Barbara Garriel Trio. Nick Ventresca has been writing and performing his songs for more than 40 years.
He gets his inspiration for writing from his interactions with family and friends and his observations of the often tumultuous world around him
A self-described “old-time hippie at heart and an ardent peacenik,” Ventresca’s anti-war sentiments shine through much of his writings. Jerry Ahern has been writing tunes since the ‘80s. The majority of his work revolves around environmental issues or ocean themes. A highly accomplished guitarist, Ahern has had the opportunity to sing and collaborate with some of the best singer/songwriters on Long Island. The monthly Showcase features three performers in a round-robin format. Each gives a short explanation of how a song was created, then performs the song. The spotlight then shifts to the next performer and then the third. The performers then go around again, for three more songs each. After the featured acts, the mic will be open to other performers who sign up to play that evening. Page One Chef Jeanine DiMenna has created a special menu for Showcase night. A sampling includes fish ‘n chips, sesame chicken, wraps with lamb souvlaki or pork, a bowl of mussels, and an array of burger combos with blue cheese, hot sauce or three onion sautés. Entrees range in price for $5-$15.
