65 Rescued Dogs Arriving Nearby This Week

Many will be available for adoption at NSALA in nearby Port Washington.

Nearly 65 puppies and dogs rescued from puppy mills are arriving Tuesday at in Port Washington.

NSALA's rescue team along with National Mill Dog Rescue saved the pups and dogs from commercial breeding operations in Missouri and Texas. The canines range in size, age and breed, including Chihuahua, bichon frise, Chiweenies (Chihuahua and daschaund mixed breed), Havanese and King Charles Cavalier.

Once the animals are evaluated medically and behaviorally, and spayed or neutered, the puppies and dogs will begin to be available for adoption on Saturday.

The NSALA's facilities are located on Davis Avenue in Port Washington, not far from Glen Cove. See our map for details.

So happy to hear these dogs were rescued! Puppy mills are horrible and they all need to be shut down. I hope all of these furbabies are able to find furever homes. They deserve to live a life full of love and security. Here is a rescue story about a dog who was taken back to the shelter b/c she was blind and partially deaf. Luckily someone saw past that and gave her a great life. http://www.ilovedogs.com/2012/06/reader-rescue-story-phoebe/
