A Time to Remember

Glen Covers unite to commemorate Memorial Day.

City officials in Glen Cove began their Memorial Day recognition services on Sunday, with many veterans using the time to decorate war monuments to commemorate the national holiday.

Members of the city's VFW James Donohue Post 347, American Legion Post 76 and American Legion Young-Simmons Post 1765, among other organizations, placed new flags at the monuments as well as gave a moment of silence in remembrance of the soldiers who died while serving in the military.

The city also held a memorial service at St. Patrick's Church on Glen Street on Sunday afternoon.
