Glen Cove Animal Shelter Hosts Weekend Fundraiser

The Glen Cove Animal Lovers League held a plant and Mother's Day gift sale to raise money for the shelter's homeless animals, including the 100 cats rescued from Elm Ave.

Sunny, true-to-spring weather was one reason for the sizable turnout at the ’s weekend fundraiser, which was held Saturday and Sunday.

Residents browsed through the wide selection of hanging baskets, exotic perennials, baked goods (many of which were provided by the local restaurant, ), and hand-crafted jewelry in hopes of finding Mother’s day gifts, and perhaps a little something for themselves.

“I’m definitely interested in buying some plants today,” said one happy Glen Cove resident, Linda, who learned of the fundraiser from advertisements posted around town.
