Glen Cove High School Champions of Charity

Members of Glen Cove High School's Key Club recently hosted the Second Annual Holiday Feast to benefit the North Shore INN.

Members of Glen Cove High School’s Key Club recently hosted the Second Annual Holiday Feast to benefit the North Shore INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network), the designated soup kitchen servicing the Glen Cove community.

Representatives of Cablevision’s Power to Learn education initiative attended and presented the GCHS Key Club and Glen Cove school officials with a check for $500 and the North Shore INN with an additional $1,000 on behalf of the Glen Cove club’s efforts.

Under Power to Learn’s “Charity Champions” program, the GCHS Key Club has excelled in delivering much needed support to the North Shore INN and those less fortunate in the community. As a result, Cablevision rewarded the club and the North Shore INN with the donations and placed Glen Cove in the running for the Charity Champions grand prize of $5,000 to be awarded at the end of the school year. Members of North Shore High School, a partner of Glen Cove in its efforts to help the North Shore INN, were on hand at the GCHS Holiday Feast to lend their support. North Shore INN representatives were there as well and thanked the students for their charitable efforts. New York State Assemblyman Charles Lavine and City Councilman Anthony Jimenez also stopped by to commend the students.

According to GCHS Key Club advisor Mary Ellen Cuomo, multiple clubs and student groups at GCHS participated in the feast through donations of food, promotions and other means of support. Many local businesses also donated food, including: Page One, La Bussalo, Andros, Downtown Café, El Tazumal, GC Diner, McDonald’s, American Café, Forest Pizza, GC Subway, GLY Café and Bookstore, Ben’s Kosher Deli, Tre Sorelle in Sea Cliff and Daniel Gale Sotheby’s Realty of Sea Cliff (for providing balloons).

Proceeds from the feast admission will go directly to support the North Shore INN. To view additional photos and a video from the GCHS Holiday Feast go to
