Glen Cove Man to Box for Charity

Anthony "A-Train" Giallanzo selected for November match to benefit Long Island Community Chest.

A Glen Cove resident and president of a local fitness club was chosen to be one of nearly two dozen Long Island business professionals who will box to raise money for charity in the fall.

Anthony Giallanzo of Ultimate Performance and Fitness, Inc. in Greenvale will join more than 20 contenders for the Long Island Fight for Charity on November 25. The event will be held at the Long Island Hilton in Melville.

It will be Giallanzo's fifth year participating in one of the region's leading charity fundraisers.

"My love for boxing and kickboxing makes this unique opportunity to give back to the Long Island Community Chest an incomparable experience that I will continue to take part in. The many memories and people I have met will never be forgotten,” he said.

The evening will feature at least 10 bouts. It is expected to draw more than 1,200 people and raise more than $200,000 to support community members in need.

Jeff Cohen is a co-founder of the event.

“As a founder and past boxer I know it takes time, effort and dedication to prepare, raise funds and participate in this event. I have the utmost respect for all those volunteering to put the gloves on to fight for the benefit of others and for helping us reach our goal by supporting the Long Island Community Chest,” Cohen said.

Tickets are available online or by calling 877-240-7821. Ringside seats are $195 and premium seats are $125. Both include admission to a networking and cocktail reception before the bouts.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m. with a V.I.P. reception. Doors open at 6 p.m. and boxing will begin at 6:30 p.m. Food and beverages will be provided by more than 20 local restaurants.
