Glen Cove Youths Collect Food for Thanksgiving Drive

The Glen Cove Youth Bureau is accepting non-perishable food donations until Nov. 18.

The is collecting non-perishable items for their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive until Nov. 18.

Each year, the organization teams up with several other Glen Cove social service agencies to provide families in need with all the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal.

Altogether, the agencies are able to provide dinner to over 350 families annually, 100 of which originate with the Youth Bureau, according to a news release. Their efforts are made possible with the generous donations received from the public.

The Youth Board is currently seeking donations of the following non-perishable items:

  • canned vegetables (peas, beans, corn, sweet potatoes)
  • cranberry sauce
  • potatoes
  • stove-top stuffing
  • cornbread mixes
  • cake mixes
  • icing
  • jello
  • fruit cocktail

Additionally, the Bureau is accepting donations of gift certificates to local grocery stores. The proceeds will be used to purchase turkeys.

Non-perishable donations may be brought to the following locations: Glen Cove Youth Bureau (128 B Glen Street, behind 126 Glen Street) or the .

If you would like to donate a frozen turkey, you may also bring it to the Youth Bureau on Nov. 18, or 21.
