Last Chance: Voting for Glen Cove’s Youth Bureau ‘From Seed to Plate’

Program helps provides nutritious meals to local senior center.

The Glen Youth Bureau is a semifinalist for the Opal Youth Make A Difference Grant. The award is given to youth initiatives stat support a worthy cause.

Now, volunteers of the Glen Cove Youth Bureau are hoping to rally supporters behind their “Seeds to Plate” program, which cultivates organically grown vegetables and herbs in the agency’s community garden. The crops will be donated to the Glen Cove Senior Center to help provide nutritious lunches for members.

The bureau aims to expand the garden this summer using a sustainable hydroponic system and greenhouses.

Of the semifinalists, seven will receive grants from Opal Brand. And to do that, the bureau must receive the maximum number of votes. Voting began April 29, and runs through this Sunday, June 2 – only one vote person.
