VIDEO: Inaugural Charity Flag Football Tournament

14 teams competed Saturday in Glen Cove to raise money for military vets.

After nearly two months of preparation, and long days of tireless dedication, the Inaugural  was held Saturday at Glen Cove's John Maccarone Memorial Stadium to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project and the Lance Corporal David R. Baker Memorial Scholarship Fund, in honor of a fallen Afghan War comrade.

Monahan said that the event had raised over $6,000 by the start of the championship game, a face-off between the Eskimos and the Warriors. The Warriors, led by Ed Healy, took the title.

"It was a lot of work, a month and a half, almost like a full-time job, though I'm not doing this to get paid," Monahan said after his team, one of fourteen total, was eliminated from the tournament. "We had a lot of fun today, and we're going to focus on making it even bigger next year."
