Just in case you missed Patch's coverage this week, here is an overview of some of the latest news in Glen Cove:

-Longtime city resident Zefy Christopoulos was selected as one of 13 honorees for the Nassau County Board of Cooperative Education Services' fourth annual "Education Partner" Awards Gala on May 6. 

-The Glen Cove Board of Education also adopted a $70.3 million budget Wednesday, ending a nearly four month process of 2010-11 budget workshops, revisions and discussions. The budget, which is the district's annual spending plan, calls for an increase of a little more than $1 million, or 1.55 percent, in expenditures from the current year.

-The board's decision, however, did not come without some backlash from taxpayers who were disappointed that the board approved staffing cuts in the budget.

-Patch also continued its Glen Cove High School sports coverage this week. Congrats to the Big Red boys' lacrosse team, which continued its undefeated conference run on Thursday with a 13-5 win over Sewanhaka.
