Just in case you missed Patch's coverage this week, here is an overview of some of the latest news in Glen Cove.

- Patch caught up with the 2010 Glen Cove Board of Education candidates this week for interviews about their election bid. The race features three longtime city residents vying for two open seats on the school board. Read our 2010-11 budget recap story as well to learn all of the information you need before heading to polls on May 18. 

- The school board also appointed Dr. Joseph A. Laria as the district's interim superintendent for next year on Monday. Laria, a former acting schools chief for the Riverhead, North Babylon and Hempstead school districts, will replace Superintendent Dr. Laurence Aronstein, who is slated to retire in June.

- Longtime journalist Geraldo Rivera and dozens of other volunteers visited Glen Cove on Monday to participate in the 23rd annual Geraldo Rivera Golf and Tennis Classic. The event, which raised money for people living with developmental disabilities, was held at the Nassau Country Club on St. Andrews Lane. 

- Patch also spoke with Glen Cove High School student Dougie Tripp, who recently broke a Big Red lacrosse scoring record that was held by his older brother.

- This week also marked a special one for the Congregation Tifereth Israel in Glen Cove as the synagogue celebrated the appointment of Irwin Huberman as its new rabbi. An installation ceremony for Huberman was scheduled for Sunday at 4 p.m.  

- Glen Cove High's baseball team continued its winning streak on Saturday, defeating Clarke, 5-0. The victory gave the team the green light to advance to the Nassau County A quarterfinals. 

- The Glen Cove community also held the second annual Andreas Christopoulos Memorial Scholarship 5K Run/Walk on Sunday. The scholarship fund was established in 2005 after Andreas was killed in a car accident. Full coverage of the race is coming your way soon.
