Just in case you missed Patch's coverage, here is an overview of some of the latest news in Glen Cove.

- The city was recognized by area leaders on Friday as a leading municipality in the "Smart Growth" movement during Vision Long Island's Ninth Annual Smart Growth Awards. The city's proposed RXR Glen Isle Waterfront Revitalization Project was one of 13 honorees at the luncheon, which was held at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. Friday marked the fifth time the city has been honored at the organization's awards. 

- City resident Robert Germino also announced this week that he will run on the Republican ticket for the state's 13th Assembly District in November against incumbent Charles Lavine (D-Glen Cove). Germino, 30, said his campaign will highlight "implementing change" in the state Legislature's leadership.

- The Nassau County Legislature's Democrats and Republicans also had a heated public exchange of words this week after Legislator Diane Yatauro (D-Glen Cove), and other Democrats, criticized County Executive Edward Mangano for "spending too much money on campaign mailings" and not enough addressing issues in the county. 

- Patch also caught up with Glen Cove High School's top three academic achievers for the Class of 2010. All three students spoke highly of their high school experience, especially when discussing the school's courses and extra-curricular activities. Patch sends a congratulations to valedictorian Kieran Basra, salutatorian Katherine Marinaccio and honorarian Brandon Winkler.

- Fox's "Hell's Kitchen" season seven contestant and city native Nilka Hendricks also spoke with Patch this week about her journey to the reality-TV world. The show was taped earlier this year and is currently airing on Tuesday nights. As of the June 14 episode, Hendricks was still in the running to become the head cook at celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay's new restaurant at the Savoy Hotel in London. 

- St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church capped off its annual five-day Family Festival and Feast of San Paolino celebration this week with a Giglio Procession on Saturday. Check out Patch's video highlights from the festivities.
