Youth Bureau Beautifies the City

Glen Cove kids help to improve their community during summer program.

The City of Glen Cove Youth Bureau's Summer Youth Employment Program is on a mission to paint the city's 467 fire hydrants.

Despite the recent hot and rainy weather, the youth employees have been working throughout the city, and have garnered verbal praise for their work.

A few generous community members and business owners have even provided snacks and refreshments to the crews painting in the summer sun.

The program's green teams have also been working with Damion Stavredes and the Beautification Commission to reface the wall on Mill Hill. After power washing and scraping graffiti off the wall, the teams applied a fresh coat of paint to the structure.
