This might have been the worse experience at a restaurant I have ever had. I should have known when they didn't have enough menus(4) when we arrived. It took 15 minutes for anyone to even come and we were one of two tables in the room! We never received napkins and had soup with no soup spoons served. When we asked for spoons, we watched the waiter come out to bring bread and water to two other tables.Still no spoons after 10 minutes! My husband had to get up and track down a bus boy to get spoons for the soup that had been sitting on a table for over 10 minutes while owner sat at bar with hostess. We didn't get any bread until we asked three different people. In restaurant for 1 1/2 hours before we even got our entrees. Would have left if we didn't have two elderly women with us. Owner came over and made excuses. He could care less. Waiter gave wrong plates and didn't know the difference between the different fish on the menu. My entree did not have one of the side dishes that it was supposed to come with. Owners attitude was awful and totally not interested in us. Too many other good restaurants in Glen Cove...go elsewhere! Deserves no stars but that was not an option.

First of all I have to admit I have never dined at the "New" Soundview but find the comments posted very sad. I ate many times at the previous Soundview and although the view and atmosphere were amazing so was the food. The chef never had a failure as far as I'm concerned and I ate there many times with family and friends. The staff and the service were always excellent. I checked out the new menu online but after sampling so many excellent meals there before it did nothing to entice me to go back. So sorry it closed. It really was a wonderful place.

I recently had my baby shower at Soundview in Glen Cove and was completely satisfied and pleased with everything! I initially met with Jaime and went through all of the planning. In our talks, it was clear that it was important to Jaime that the event happened as I had envisioned it. He was accomodating in many ways... Together, we created the menu of what I wanted. He was also very fair and reasonable with the price that he gave me p/p. I had a large party of 57 adults and 12 children. Together, we planned how the tables would be to accomodate this many people. I was also very impressed with Matt, the manager. We met a couple of times, planning for the day. He was wonderful!!! On the day of the event, he made sure that everything was set up and ready to go. My guests arrived and were enjoying their cocktails as the servers walked around as we discussced. The main server who was running the party was incredible! She was consistently checking in with me, making sure everything was okay and seeing if I needed anything. The food on the day of the event was delicious! I had a large buffet table set up, which looked great! The chefs did a great job and made sure to make new trays of food in a timely manner. My guests had a wonderful time and I did too! I would definitely host another party at Soundview and I would recommend family and friends to as well.
Thank you Jaime and Matt for making my baby shower a spectacular one!

I recently had my sons christening at Soundview. I always admired the places view and location. I met the owner and was instantly impressed however my party was a NIGHTMARE!!! Its been 4 days since the event and my blood is still boiling. We were supposed to start out with a cocktail party in the bar area or outside pending weather. Upon arrival there were 8 drunk golfers at the bar cursing and watching football. How am I supposed to welcome my guests in this atmosphere? The dining room was set up incorrectly and didn't even have the correct number of seats for my guests which created chaos. Guests were arriving and didn't have a place to sit. The service was TERRIBLE. The servers and the "manager" who had very little experience didn't know what they were doing. The food came out delayed, they weren't properly clearing the tables and people were complaining that their order wasn't taken and others that their food reached them cold. The printed menu had errors on it on top of it all.I'm beyond livid still, I would NEVER recommend this place. They lied that they could accommodate my size group and even after I went over everything in detail with them ahead of time they still messed it all up. The owner who I did the walk thru with wasn't even there and Matt the manager is a moron and not qualified at all! DON'T throw your private party here! I didn't get to enjoy my son's christening at all. My memory of this day has been forever ruined and the food wasn't even good!

Trish -I am so sorry that we did not meet your expectations for your party, as we work very diligently to over deliver on each and every event we do at the Soundview. You and I discussed that the room was previously reserved for another party and I suggested that you push your requested time out 1/2 hour, but you were inflexible in the time. I felt that I had clearly stated to you that I would not "throw out a party" and that you may have to wait a bit. You said that you could "live with" this had this situation arrived. Also, let’s be fair: I think it's a little unrealistic that your guest were clearing their own plates - to the kitchen? and making their own drinks - behind the bar?
I felt I was very much on top of your party, but your expectations on service were a bit over zealous. We had 2 servers and 1 bus person for a 20 person party, plus myself. Further, as you know, you were not the only event that day and I worked with yours as long as I could when I had to tend to the other party. This is not excuses, just a reality check on the facts and more importantly a truly humble apology that we were not able to meet all your expectations. For that I am really sorry. We work extremely hard to make every single party an exceptional one, a truly special occasion. We’ve done 131 parties to date to rave reviews. I am sincerely disappointed that we were not able to achieve that for you and your quest on your special day.

I am so sad to write this. I was assured by Jaime, the manager, that my little surprise dinner for my Mother would be perfect. I never expect perfect, but I expect an attempt to be made.

Short version: the room wasn't set up at all when guests arrived, menu was not ready, service was terrible (very polite and sweet, but clueless). Food was decent, not awesome, but decent.. which was a welcomed surprise when everything else was such a disaster. I was absolutely mortified that guests were waiting, clearing their own plates, getting their own drinks. The whole experience was a nightmare. Jaime stopped coming in the room because he knew how messed up everything was... it was obvious that we were forgotten about.

The view was cool.... the food was okay... the service was insulting, truly.

I attempted to speak to Jaime about this. I called twice and sent an email. I'm not a yeller, I wasn't going to curse him out. I just wanted an explanation and none of my attempts were returned... it has been a month.

If you plan to have an event there, proceed with caution.
