News spreads across the world about Jobs' death.
One month after stepping down as chief executive, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs has passed away. The New York Times reported: Mr. Jobs stepped down from the chief executive role in late August, saying he could no longer fulfill his duties, and became chairman. He underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer in 2004, and received a liver transplant in 2009. In a statement, Apple said “Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. If you would like to share your thoughts, memories, and condolences, please email rememberingsteve@apple.com." Roosevelt Field Apple store opens early to surprisingly small turnout.
For years, AT&T customers have held their Apple iPhones high while Verizon customers have been on the outside looking in, so to speak. But all that changed with the end of AT&T's iPhone exclusivity agreement, and on Thursday, Apple and Verizon joined together to release the iPhone 4 to the envious, non-AT&T masses. Patch was at the Apple store at Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City to cover the 7 a.m. Verizon iPhone launch. Click the video to view highlights of this event.

That girl used to be a "student" of mine when I was News Director for the campus radio station. I remember - I was in a couple classes with her the semester it happened! What's funny is that the launch of the "free iPad" program for incoming C.W. Post freshman had absolutely nothing to do with Steve Jobs.   more ›
