December elections yielded new positions for Glen Cove Fire Department and EMS chiefs.
New Glen Cove Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services chiefs were recently elected to serve two-year terms beginning Jan. 1, according to officials. “Pretty much all the chiefs moved up to the position above them,” said newly-minted Glen Cove Chief of EMS Matthew Venturino, former First Assistant Chief, who was also among those who “moved up” in the ranks. The new slate of department officers for 2012-2013 are as follows: City of Glen Cove Fire Department City of Glen Cove EMS The Glen Cove Fire Department holds elections every two years, in conjunction with the mayoral election, said former Chief of Department Anthony Tripp. They are held at the firehouse on the second Friday in December, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., and only active…

A Glen Cove man was arrested on Thursday after police say they found illegal weapons and ammunition in his burning home. With the addition of three new vehicles, the city service looks to expand its membership and more.
The members of the Glen Cove Emergency Medical Service meet on the first Saturday and second Thursday of every month to keep one another up-to-date on the department's operations. Just recently, two topics were the foci of discussions-an addition of three new ambulances and the city's St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday. It seems, however, that growth and maintenance are what the service will focus on in the upcoming months. Matthew Venturino, the service's second assistant chief, said that last month the Glen Cove City Council approved the purchase of three vehicles, two 2010 Ford E450s to replace the two 1998 editions — also known as "The Twins"— that the service currently uses, and a 2010 Ford Van. With the remaining 2004 E450 that the …
