Scholarship Set Up to Honor Carol Ann Sucharski

Glen Cove resident was active in PTA, Family Services.

It is with deep regret and sadness that the family of Carol Ann Sucharski, (nee Sukman) conveys her passing on Dec. 31, 2011 in Port St. Lucie, Fla., due to complications from surgery.  In death, she is mourned by a loving family, cherished friends and an entire community.  In life, she encompassed all that is good in humanity, unconditionally giving of herself, working tirelessly for the good of youth and assisting the underprivileged in Glen Cove. Carol Sucharski was born in Chicago and moved with her parents to Glen Cove shortly after birth.  After completing schooling in Maine, Carol returned to Glen Cove and began a family with her late husband John S. Glen Cove High School Hosts Carnival

The Glen Cove High School's third annual carnival to help support graduating seniors gave local families an opportunity to have an afternoon of fun.

While  threatening storm clouds loomed overhead, the weather held out for Glen Cove High School’s third annual Carnival Friday. The school's senior class, in tandem with the PTA, hosted the event in an effort to raise funds for the seniors’ scholarships.  The festivities - which were held in the school’s parking lot - gave students an opportunity to have fun with friends and classmates before final exams begin next week. It also provided for a fun afternoon for local families, especially those with small kids. The turnout was "great" this year, said PTSA member Gina Rant. “Cupcakes were baked by lots of parents which I want to thank them for,” she said. “This is something I love being apart of.” Student representatives from school clubs …

PTA Council Honors Laurent Caballero

Glen Cove parents and teachers recognize longtime volunteer while hosting annual Community Scholarship Fundraiser.

With more than 150 district parents, staff, family and distinguished guests in attendance, the Glen Cove Council of Parent Teacher Associations hosted its annual Community Scholarship Fundraiser on March 14 at the New York Institute of Technology's de Seversky Mansion of Old Westbury.  Laurent Caballero, the district's kindergarten through second grade teacher's aide, was this year's honoree during the Sunday Brunch event.   "Today we recognize a woman with deep devotion to her community," said Mayor Ralph Suozzi. "Laurent has committed her life to volunteering, serving the children and families of Glen Cove."
