About Doris
Journalist Doris Meadows contributed to The New York Times for more than 20 years, first as a general interest reporter for the weekly regional section, Long Island, and later for the Special Sections division where she wrote regular articles on healthcare, senior issues, interior design and several other topics. She co-authored two books: Long Island: The Golden Isle and Long Island: An Environment for Success, and was managing editor for a third, Access and Excellence: 75 Years of Long Island University. Her work has also appeared in many general interest and business publications and has won awards from the Press Club of Long Island, the Long Island Coalition for Fair Broadcasting (now Fair Media Council) and the Advertising Club of Long Island.
