At Glen Cove's 8th Annual Senior Recognition Day Saturday, centenarian Irene Menuccina told Mayor Reginald Spinello daily samba dancing goes a long way to enjoying life.
And there was plenty of enjoyment to go around at the celebration, which honored local seniors. The Les Stanco Group provided background music throughout the day and the Golden Voices Chorale Group performed.
The reception was held at Glen Cove Senior Center Saturday because of threatening weather.

There, Janina Jania received the Volunteer of the Year Award and Carolyn Willson received the Lifetime Achievement award.
The Bob Howard Community Leadership Award went to Assemb. Charles Lavine.

In addition to Mencuccina, special recognition was given to four other local centenarians: Charles Klein, Nadine Vorburger, Rose Paparillo, and Vincenza Giordano.
Visitors enjoyed refreshments and treats provided by the staff of the Glen Cove Senior Center, The Regency at Glen Cove, Glengariff Health Care Center, The Atria of Glen Cove; Sunrise Senior Living, the North Shore Hospital at Glen Cove and the Glen Cove Downtown Business Improvement District.
