After 30 Years, Glen Cove Furrier to Close

Owner Mikhail Gutman retiring, entire inventory at close-out prices.

Mikhail Gutman is retiring from the fur biz.

Gutman, owner of Glen Cove Furrier, says things have changed since he set up shop over 30 years ago. Decreasing demand for furs and the sustained physical requirements of the job have prompted him to close his shop by the first week of January.

"My father was in the fur business in Russia and here for over 50 years," he said. "I came here to continue the business in 1978. I had a shop in Manhattan for three years then came to Glen Cove. I had more customers, more storage," he said.

All inventory is currently on sale at Glen Cove Furrier, including mink, beaver, fox, rabbit and other high quality one-of-a-kind pieces. They also offer fur throws, pillows, ear muffs, scarves, hats and other services which you can see on their website www.glencovefur.com.

Glen Cove Furrier is located inside Safavieh Home Furnishings at 24 School Street.
