Coal Fired Pizzeria Coming to Greenvale

Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza eyes Northern Boulevard location for 2014 opening.

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza is continuing its Long Island expansion with plans to open a new pizzeria along the busy Northern Boulevard corridor.

Founding partner and Long Island native Anthony Bruno made the announcement last week at the opening of the Great Neck restaurant, the 40th location for the Florida-based chain and fifth on Long Island.

“We fit right into the culture here,” said Bruno, 51, a 1980 Carey High School graduate. “We have a product people appreciate.”

A company spokesperson said the new location will be at 90 Northern Boulevard in Greenvale, across from T.J. Maxx. Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza is still awaiting zoning approval from the Town of North Hempstead.

That places the eatery within a short drive of Port Washington or Glen Cove and three college campuses: LIU-Post, NYIT and SUNY-Old Westbury.

Although no official opening date has been set, Bruno told Patch he expected the Greenvale restaurant to be serving pizza by March 2014.

“The fun part is it’s really about the people,” said another partner, NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino. “Anthony started this with one restaurant. I was able to be part of the second. It feels good to create something that’s fun and special and people enjoy.”
