More GC City Hall Shenanigans

After 2 weeks of rehashed and regurgitated Mayor Suozzi press releases in the Gold Coast Gazette regarding the City of Glen Cove's litigation against GC Hospital, it is finally clear how desperate the Mayor is! It states in the paper that NS/LIJ COO Mark Solazzo confirmed that the proposed service cutbacks had nothing to do with the City's litigation against them. Well, the Mayor asked Mr. Solazzo to write it. Does anyone think that Mr. Solazzo would write that it WAS related? The state regulatory agencies would be all over the hospital. The hospital is digging their heels in. They aren't going to roll over, even if City retained Lawyer Napoli states the hospital has insurance to cover it. What arrogance! Yeah, like the insurance rate wouldn't go up after the settlement. This is why the hospital's lawyers state in their memorandums filed with the Nassau County Court Clerk, that the City is going after "the deepest pockets." They used the word "Extortion". The Mayor just thought it would be settled and gone without knowledge to the public before Election Day. Did anyone know about this before a month or so ago? It has been going on for 3 years.....real transparency!
Also, several residents have requested the City to produce the minutes of the resolution that reflect the vote of the City Council to go ahead and LITIGATE the case....not just the minutes of the 7/2010 minutes to RETAIN a law firm. There are no minutes or resolution to vote to litigate. NONE could be found. Looks as though the Mayor acted alone, without Council approval, in deciding to litigate. As a matter of fact, the 7/2010 minutes AND the contract with Napoli's firm don't even mention the hospital by name or that it is a hospital. It states the "polluters".....not even "alleged" polluters...the "polluters" in any documentation. All the Council people, Tenke, Jimenez, DiLeo, Famiglietti, DeRiggi-Whitton and Dwyer voted "aye", "aye" "aye", etc., like a bunch of trained seals begging for a fish, without even asking who the "polluters" were? AMAZING! Just more rubberstamp bureaucracy. Wasn't bad enough they did it during the summer when they expect no one to be paying attention, like the Pascucci Field fiasco this summer.  Oh boy, do we need a change in City Hall.
