'So Vintage' Opens on School Street

Artist Patricia Holman and her partner Jack Ricotta give new life to old classics at their Glen Cove store.

Artist Patricia Holman and her partner Jack Ricotta give new life to old classics at their new Glen Cove store 'So Vintage,' which held its grand opening last week.

So Vintage, located at 8 School Street, specializes in Art Deco, mid-Century Modern and Industrial findings expressed in furniture, glassware, and other accessories for the home. The store also sells vintage jewelry and furs.

Holman and Ricotta opened So Vintage after spending years looking for the perfect North Shore location. Living in Glen Cove for the past five years, Holman realized her home turf would be most fitting.

"It happened while I was reading a book about this area back in the 20s, and I felt like this was the place," she said. "I wanted to give Glen Cove a chance. It was emotion that was the deciding factor."

Holman discovered her talent for revitalizing old things while remodeling a historic home seven years ago. She has since transitioned out of her career as a fur designer and turned her passion into a full time job.

So Vintage is full of her and her partner's handiwork, including refinished antique chests, couches, and tables as well as quirky original creations and designer gifts.
