The Gold Award is the highest achievement a girl can earn in Girl Scouts and is a nationally recognized achievement, according to Troop 121 leader Tina Braja.

"This award is designed to be accomplished as an individual project completed during the high school years, and must be completed by the Sept. 30 following high school graduation," Braja said. "Marinaccio's project was focused on Glen Cove, implementing a recycling program at Glen Cove City Stadium."
