Glen Cove Man Charged With Arson

Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad and Glen Cove detectives arrested Moses Rios for lighting a Coles Court home on fire Saturday.

A Glen Cove man was arrested on Saturday after he lit a Coles Court home on fire and threw a brick through the window of a parked vehicle outside the residence.

Moses Rios, 25, of 12A Janet Ave. was charged with second degree arson and third degree criminal mischief after an ongoing neighborhood dispute turned violent, Nassau police said.

Police said Rios poured a flammable liquid on the home of the male victim's front porch before lighting it on fire at 3:25 a.m. on Saturday.

Police said that while there were no occupants in the home at the time of the fire, the blaze damaged the front entranceway of the home as well as the porch.

Several hours before the fire, at approximately 1 a.m., Rios threw a brick through the rear window of an unoccupied car parked in front of the home, police said.

Police said no injuries were reported.

Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad and Glen Cove Det. Karl Van Allen arrested Rios at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday in Glen Cove.

Police declined to release the name of the Coles Court resident.
