Son Charged With Killing Retired Glen Cove Police Officer

Matthew Taranto has been charged with killing his father, Sal Taranto.

, a retired , was fatally shot in his central New York home late Tuesday night.

Matthew Taranto, the victim's 28-year-old son who suffers from Aspergers Syndrome—a type of autism—has been charged with the murder.

Authorities say Matthew Taranto shot his 58-year-old father several times in the chest.

Matthew Taranto pleaded not guilty to a second-degree murder charge. He's being held in jail without bail, according to the Associated Press.
