This Tuesday is Assessment Grievance Day in Glen Cove.
The day – which falls annually on the third Tuesday in June – marks a tentative assessment roll of the real property within the city.
The final day for filing applications for review (protest forms) has been extended to June 28. A second Board of Assessors Hearing will be scheduled, according to a City of Glen Cove news release.
Residential and commercial property owners are encouraged to meet with the assessor to discuss any valuation concerns prior to meeting with the Board of Assessor or filing any court proceedings, according to the release.
The assessor and the Board of Assessment Review will hear complaints relative to assessments at from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
"Various exemptions are available for qualified taxpayers that can help reduce their tax burden," according to the release. "The most common exemptions are veterans’, senior citizens’ and STAR exemptions. These are all partial exemptions."

City to Host July 4 Celebration with Fireworks and Concert
The City of Glen Cove will hold it's annual Fourth of July Celebration on Sunday, July 3 at .
The event kicks off with a concert and concludes with a fireworks display.
Glen Cove resident Helen Bauer of the Northwinds Band will lead the concert from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.on the Morgan Park stage.
Residents are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.
Rain date for the the fireworks display is Monday, July 4.
City to Host Downtown Bicycle Parade
The annual is scheduled for Monday, July 4 at 10 a.m.
Children are invited to line up at horseshoe with their bikes, scooters, trikes and battery-powered “vehicles.”
Patriotic bicycle decorations are encouraged.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and helmets and protective gear are mandatory.
The parade will travel down Forest Avenue to School Street and concludes at Village Square with an Independence Day celebration with Mayor Ralph Suozzi to include music, a sing-a-long of patriotic songs and refreshments.
City Safety and Parking
Bags and backpacks are subject to random search for contraband, including alcohol and fireworks, according to a City of Glen Cove news release.
Parking restrictions will be in effect in the Landing neighborhood.
There will be no parking all day July 3 on Germaine Street, Landing Road or McLoughlin Street west of Carpenter Street.
Parking is available in the Morgan Park parking lot and parking lot on McLoughlin Street.
